Dear Humanities Advocate,

Act now to prevent deep cuts to funding for Fulbright-Hays!

The Senate has proposed drastic cuts to Fulbright-Hays.

This program is crucial for training experts in foreign languages and cultures and ensuring productive global engagement.

The proposed cut would slash $5.1 million (69%) from Fulbright-Hays.

Coming after a steep cut in 2011, this 69% cut would eliminate all new grants for 2017.

What’s at stake?

• A steady supply of graduates with expertise in foreign languages and cultures, international markets, world regions, and global issues
• An important source of funding for dissertation research abroad
• The Department of Education’s only program that encourages study abroad
